I discovered Yoga during my intern year of medical residency, when a studio opened in my Philadelphia neighborhood.  My practice started simply as a way to exercise, but I quickly noticed benefits that extended off of my mat.  My lingering knee pain resolved. I was sleeping more soundly than ever before.  I was thinking more clearly on hospital rounds.

On a whim, I booked the remaining spot on the Yoga studio’s retreat to Nicaragua only a few weeks before departure.  Being immersed in yoga, both as a physical practice and as a lifestyle, on that trip ended up being transformative for me.   I wanted to learn more and to incorporate the philosophies of yoga into my medical practice.

My curiosity about yoga revitalized my passion for musculoskeletal medicine, which guided me to apply for fellowship training in the medical subspecialty of Rheumatology. Before graduating from Internal Medicine residency and beginning fellowship, I completed my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training. After finishing Rheumatology fellowship, I completed  Dr. Andrew Weil’s Integrative Medicine Fellowship  at the University of Arizona.  This education reinforced, for me, the science that substantiates the health benefits of yoga for literally everyone.

I remain a dedicated student of yoga, and I feel immense gratitude to share what I learn with you, as your teacher.
